2020 HALLOWEEN CHESS TOURNAMENT

Tokyo Bilingual Chess Club's Halloween Scholastic Tournament held on October 31, 2020 was small but fun!  Many of our tournament organizers are facing tough decisions due to the general guidance from authorities to avoid large gatherings because of the COVID-19 global pandemic.  Due to quarantine, while all chess classes are currently being held online, we finally made a face-to-face tournament under a health and cleaning protocols for COVID-19.

Our kids missed playing chess over-the-board and holding a chess tournament with safety protocols made it a fun, unique event in more ways than one.

There were 15 brave souls, that came out during our Halloween Haunt from at least 8 schools. The Tournament Director, Jakhongir Shavdirov, explained tournament rules and regulations to young players.

Congratulations to our 2020 Halloween Chess Tournament winners:

Class A: Kai Tatsumi

Class A: Paulo Galvez

Class A: Aviral Agarwal

Class B: Simon Orozco

Class B: Ganesh Mithran

Class B: Ivan Holoborodko

Even thought we love rewarding all our top players for their chess excellence, we reward everyone who comes and we acknowledge all our players and think they are just the bees-knees for coming out,

challenging themselves, enjoying chess and having a great day of family and community chess fun!

Kids and teachers dressed up with the spooky costumes and Kanat Nurbek dressed as a Zombie won the best costume prize!

Congratulations to everyone who came out to participate and make for a great chess community event!

Thank you to all who came out to and participated the Halloween Chess Tournament.

Stay tuned for the Winter Tournament, hopefully happening soon!
