2024 TOP SPINNING TOURNAMENT

19 elementary school students showed up for the New Year Top Spinning Chess Tournament.  Deep thinkers attend this tournament from grades one up through 6th grade to compete against the strongest competition scholastic chess has to offer. This event is one of the strongest events to help your child prepare for the official level competition of the Japan Chess Federation, which is upcoming on April 7, 2024 for the Japan Cadets & Youth Chess Championship.

Students in Tokyo Bilingual Chess Club are being taught by the top chess trainers in the world. It is absolutely astounding that we have access to these talented coaches. The Tournament Director, CM Alex A., and the Instructor, Nick B. settled any type of dispute that arose during the game. Thank you for volunteering as a photographer, Hiroko A., Kairi's mom.  It was a huge help and much appreciated.

When two or more players ended up with the same score, we had a blitz chess play-off, in which they play one game of five-minute chess to determine who wins which trophy.  Class A was dominated by Kairi A. with a perfect score of 5 out of 5.  We would like to congratulate the winners below:

Class A: Kairi Akiyama with 5.0/5.0

Class A: Eito Nishida with 4.0/5.0

Class A: Tristan Chih with 3.0/5.0

Class A: Haruki Shimagaki with 3.0/5.0

Class A: Hiroki Abe with 3.0/5.0

Remember!  Even thought we love rewarding all our top players for their chess excellence, we reward everyone who comes and we acknowledge all our players and think they are just the bees-knees for coming out, challenging themselves, enjoying chess and having a great day of family and community chess fun!

The 1st place winner of each section received free entry fee for the next scholastic chess tournament.  The next batch of tournaments is on February 3, 2024.  If you are serious about providing your children with the best preparatory opportunities for the upcoming country events, consider attending this event.  Getting good at something is never really easy but reward for mastering it is priceless.  Try and you will see!
